Founded in 1921 in Alameda County, California, Soroptimist has grown to 3,000 clubs in 124 countries with over 90,000 members.  It is the largest classified service organization for executive and professional women.

The word “Soroptimist” is derived from Latin “soro” (sister) and “optima” (best), translated to mean “best for women.

In any location in the world where there is a Soroptimist club, a warm welcome is extended to a member who is visiting or moving to a new location.
